Motorising your blinds
"Can any type of blind be motorised?"
Short answer: "Almost any blind can be motorised - but not every blind should be. It depends on size, weight and headrail system."
Roller Blinds - The easiest to motorise. Motorisation is built into the tube the fabric rolls around and they have a weighted bar along the base to help keep it steady.
Roman Blinds - Possible but weight matters. Roman blinds stack up in folds, so heavy fabrics can strain motors and stronger systems are required.
Venetian Blinds - Possible, but more complex. Require motorisation for both lifting & tilting slats. That means dual motors or a more specialised headrail system, making it an expensive option.
Honeycomb - Yes very commonly motorised. They're lightweight and operate smoothly.
